Information Matters to Rural Communities
Shelter Cymru has launched the ‘Information matters to rural communities’ project in Narberth, which was supported by Angela Burns AM and many others, including Elfyn Williams, One Voice Wales’ Regional Development Officer, who has supported and encouraged the project. The Shelter Cymru team has been across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire presenting the project to community councillors.
Angela Burns, Assembly Member for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire, spoke at the launch and voiced her support as follows: "A key factor in preventing homelessness and alleviating poverty is access to information, which is why this project is an important step forward for rural communities in South West Wales.”
The project aims to help prevent homelessness, alleviate poverty and financial hardship and rural isolation by distributing packs that will provide practical information on housing, debt, welfare benefits and rural wellbeing via bilingual briefings to smaller rural communities within Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
The help and support of community councillors will help local people avoid crises and secure a better quality of life for themselves and their family. Now the pack is ready to be distributed there are many ways you can get involved to enhance the work and help deliver the project to more people in smaller rural communities.
