Buckingham Palace Garden Party 2011
One Voice Wales has been requested by the Lord Chamberlain’s Office to inform member councils that Her Majesty will be hosting a garden party at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday 12th July 2011.
The invitation is to the current (outgoing) Chairperson in recognition of past service. You may bring a guest with you who can be; your spouse, a married son/daughter or a guest of your choice. This is a once in a lifetime experience so If you have previously attended a Garden Party at the Palace please do not put your name forward to allow somebody else to have the opportunity.
The Lord Chamberlain has asked us to highlight the following: -
The Chairperson should be accompanied unless he or she specifically requests otherwise. The elderly or infirm MUST be accompanied. The accompanying guest is included in the maximum of two nominees per council.
The Chairperson must be a British or Irish citizen, although their accompanying guest may be of another nationality. All attendees must be resident in the United Kingdom.
The quota of 32 invitations that we have been allocated will be split into 10 per region i.e. 10 for North Wales, 10 for Mid Wales and 10 for South Wales. This will work out at 2 invites each for 5 councils in each region. The final names will be decided by drawing each region’s nominations from a hat. There will be two places remaining so all the regions will be put into the hat for the final draw.
PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL ONLY BE NOTIFIED IF YOUR COUNCIL HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN THE DRAW.
Both tickets will be sent directly from the Palace to the Chairperson nearer the date of 12TH July 2011.
The DEADLINE for nomination forms, completed in full, must be received at this office by Friday 18th March 2011. Under no circumstances will nominations be accepted after this date.
It must be stressed that NO ALTERATIONS OR SUBSTITUTIONS can be made once the list has been submitted to the Lord Chamberlain’s Office. In the past, councils have requested changes at the last minute; we have been informed that this will no longer be possible.
* The name given must be in exactly the same format as the identification that they will be asked to bring with them on the day e.g. passport, driving licence. If the name given does not match the identification they will be refused access to the event.
